Treatment FAQs
Here are some frequently asked questions about microblading and other treatments.
This varies from person to person and depends mainly on your skin type, the aftercare is also very important.
If you have oily skin then generally the effects last between 6-8 months. If you have normal to dry skin then it can last between 1-2 years. Even after this time, however, you will have some pigment left on your eyebrows which will allow you to fill it in much easier if desired.
The aftercare during the first 2 weeks of the procedure is very important in ensuring that the eyebrows heal properly (see aftercare section).
You must also always wear good sun protection (50 factor) as the sun can fade the pigments used.
You might feel a slight discomfort but it is almost painless. As the blade cuts through the top layer of the skin you will feel a scratching sensation rather than pain. You are then numbed to go over the first lines that were done, this is to give you better results and better for the artist to work on skin that is natural rather than the texture being changed after numbing.
The same goes for other brow treatments. but for Lip and eyeliner treatments you’ll be numbed to not feel the pain.
1 and a half hour appointments are given for the initial procedure, after the consent forms are filled in we start with the measuring and drawing ensuring that the shape is perfect for you and then we start the brow enhancement.
Lash Liner can take up to 1.5 hours whereas lips can take up to 2 hours to complete.
The second appointment which is your top up, is carried out 4-6 weeks after the initial procedure and is around 20 minutes.
The eyebrows generally heal within 2 weeks. You do not, however, have to hide from the world in until they heal. The eyebrows will still look good within the healing time. Initially the eyebrows will be stronger in colour but will then fade to a more natural colour after the 2 weeks.
Yes all clients will need an allergy test for all treatments at least 24 hours before the procedure. Except for the pigment wiper.
If the pigment is very dark and covers the whole of the eyebrow, then it would be best to wait for the tattoo to fade or have removal before microblading can be done.
Please refer to pigment wiper on our page. Once we see a clear photo of your brows (old tattoo) we can advise you on what treatment will be the best option for you, as sometimes depending on the colour and size of the old tattoo you may not need removal but just shading of the brows.
No you cannot have this procedure if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
You may experience some bleeding during the procedures but this varies from client to client and depends on your skin. Bruising is very rare but there may be slightly bruising or redness after the procedure. Some of the treatments can cause swelling, but all these last 1-3 days as it is the healing process.

Microblading is ideal for people with healthy skin that is not in the process of healing. Since Accutane alters yours epidermis it is best to wait when your skin is fully healed (6-12 months after Accutane is completed). Microblading is achieved by depositing pigment between the epidermis and dermis layer of the skin called stratum basale, this is why your epidermis layer needs to be healthy so the microblading artist is able to provide the treatment without any complications.
This is the same with strong retinoids as it will increase skin shedding, inhibiting the pigment from settling in your skin. If you are on retinoids that aren’t strong please get advice from your doctor. If your retinol is not strong please stop using it 6 weeks before and after your treatment as it will fade the tattoo fast.
This applies to all brow enhancement procedures.
