Advanced Beauty at Salon Beauty Show

I had an amazing time participating on the Advanced Beauty stage at Salon Beauty Show at Excel Centre. I had the pleasure of speaking to like-minded women about my journey and the art of brows, Microblading and natural brow growth.

How I began my career

I started my career back in 2016, my interest in beauty and cosmetic tattoo began long before that but I wanted to firstly get my degree in business and management. I went on my usual trip back home to Istanbul, Turkey, I wanted to get Microblading done on myself, because I found that in Istanbul the technique was very advanced, super natural looking and it was the biggest trend back then in Turkey. I didn’t like the before and after I was seeing here in the UK so then it hit me that this is what I want to try as a career -  creating a brand for brows under my name.

My plan was to be a very natural semi-permanent makeup artist because this is what I have always been known about within friends and family, I have always had an eye for natural beauty and loved small touches to enhance beauty.

I hated the old-style tattoos and wanted to show everyone this treatment can be done in a natural way! I joined a course and completed my training, the moment I passed my case studies I left the office and found a small room to rent in a hair salon. I had no clients just two of my aunts to use as models and used my personal Instagram account which had 1k following and shared these two transformations on there leading to many dm’s. A few months later I added Lash lift and tint as s service, and again nobody really knew about this treatment it was very new, leading to so many new clients and my page was growing.

About 6 months into my career I was discovered by a few influencers who wanted to have their brows and lashes done to share a new treatment to their followers which worked amazingly for both my business and their instagram as it was a great time back then to start a small business. Followed by the influencers, editors started noticing me, then some celebrities,  princesses of the middle east and with a long 18-month waitlist I was all over the magazines, blogs, YouTube channels and my name was heard in the UK, Europe and USA.

So, for me I think it was just perfect timing and I’m happy I went for what I wanted without delaying it while the gap was still there.

What is Microblading?

Microblading is created by using a hand-held tool called a disposable u-blade which is curved and has 18 needles to scratch the first layer of the skin to be able to create fine strokes with pigments that match your brow hair colour/skin tone.

The colour of the pigment will usually heal to an ashy colour, the cooler you’re under skin tone the cooler the results and in fact the results depend on so many factors such as the person's skin texture and healing process.

Microblading is very different to 10 years ago for some but for me it's the same as I always kept my work looking as natural as possible, as well as kept to current shapes rather than following brow trends that people might regret a few years later. The only difference for me is the pigments and what kind of strokes to create depending on the natural brow growth, however it is definitely very different to 20 years ago where a single line needle was used to tattoo the brow area with a black pigment, which is very difficult to remove as it was done deep into the skin.

The first thing I look at is the current eyebrow hair, then the direction of the brow hairs, how coarse it is and lastly, symmetry. I’ve become accustomed to analysing brows that within seconds I can tell exactly how to recreate a better shape for my clients, with all of these main points I can determine which treatment will look most natural. If I believe SPMU would not suit my client I will always advise them to opt for an alternative solution such as; try grow their brows back, focus on creating a brow shape with their natural hairs and to try Brow Lamination & Tint instead.

I prefer my clients to avoid any brow hair removal and let them grow as much as possible before their appointment, so that when I design the brows, I can see what I need and don't need in order to create a natural brow tattoo. This is where I recommend to try my Brow Vitamin Treatment a few times to stimulate the hair follicles and see if we can grow the brows back or even a little more than what it is currently. This treatment is currently only offered by me, which you can also learn and offer your clients as a new service.

Brow Maintenance

If you have had your brows Microbladed then the maintenance for this will be as simple as a few seconds, all you would need to do is colour in your brows with an ashy pencil of your choice as the shaped is already mapped out for you, just like a permanent stencil! I also advise my clients to tint their brows on special events if it is something they don’t do regularly, as the tint catches the skin but where there is pigment from Microblading the tint catches this area more and makes the brows look fresh all over again, including a nice wax or thread to help you pop the shape back out, this always helps to show your defined and lifted new shape.

If you do not have a semi-permanent makeup procedure then for brow maintenance I truly believe that it should not just be about threading, shaping and tinting. The main maintenance should be to have the Brow Vitamin Treatment done on a semi-regular basis, not only to see if your client’s hair follicles are alive but also to prevent brow thinning. Eyebrows are the first hairs to go as they are so fine and easy to lose, best thing you can do is look after what you currently have and every couple of months to have brow maintenance with the Vitamin Treatment followed by your regular shaping, and if needed tinting.

Brow / Hair Vitamin Treatment

The Brow Vitamin Treatment is a natural solution combined with a medical grade needle, designed to increase hair growth, you can do this for your brows, scalp and beard. We would apply the solution onto the brows, and use the medical grade needle to open the skin, letting all the natural ingredients into the follicles and help stimulate hair growth. The treatment on the brows takes 15-20 mins maximum,  I recommend my clients to come at least once a month for 3-5 sessions and give at least 3 months to see a difference, sometimes after 6 months people start seeing sudden growth. This growth is permanent as you have activated the follicles naturally. I do want to mention it is not 100% certain as it is an all-natural solution.
